
The Academy has announced the list of performers for the 89th Academy Awards.John Legend will join this year’s nominees Justin Timberlake, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Sting to perform at the annual award-giving show, which is set to take place at the Dolby Theatre, California.
“We’re thrilled to welcome these world-class artists to the Oscars,” producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd said in a statement. “These performances will not only celebrate the five extraordinary nominated original songs, but also the integral part music plays in movies.”
Representing the Best Original Song category, Legend will perform a pair of “La La Land” tunes, “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” and “City of Stars”, which are performed by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in the movie. Meanwhile, Timberlake will perform his song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from “Trolls“.
The “Hamilton” creator Miranda will be joined by actress Auli’i Cravalho to perform “Moana” track “How Far I’ll Go”, while British musician Sting will take the stage to sing “The Empty Chair” from HBO’s documentary film “Jim: The James Foley Story“.
The 2017 Oscars will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will air live on Sunday, February 26 on ABC. Scarlett Johansson,Chris Evans, Kate McKinnon andSamuel L. Jackson are among celebrities who will take the stage as presenters for the annual ceremony.
